Location Shoot: Oakworth West Yorkshire
On this outing, a few 3rd year VFX students headed to the Keighley & Worth valley railway which has been the location for many films and TV productions including the classic The Railway Children. Armed with a Blackmagic camera and our trusty, DJI Ronin rig, they set to work filming various parts of the railway and trains for VFX shots. We would like to give special thanks to the station master as he could not have been more accommodating to our students.
We encourage our students to get as much experience outside of the Futureworks studios as possible, we have the gear, you have permission to use it…it’s a real no-brainer! Organisation should be quite simple really, you contact a few peers, arrange a date in which you can all commit to and then set forth on a little learning adventure. You’re not just going to advance in your camera skills, there’s also the aspect of time, team and project management to take into account. Future employers are going to look for these skills when putting out jobs as they set you above the rest. You simply can’t put a price on a solid team member.
We will hopefully be posting the finished footage as soon as it’s done.
